Description :
Located 300 kilometers south of Rio on the Costa Verde (Green Coast), Paraty is considered by UNESCO as one of the world's most important examples of Portuguese colonial architecture, with its churches, old houses and uneven cobblestone streets. Near Paraty there is a large peninsula covered by Atlantic Rainforest, with a few fishermen's settlements and several wild beaches. This is an isolated Environmental Protection Area only accessible by boat or trails. Unspoiled rivers coming down from the Serra do Mar to the beaches offer wonderful pools and waterfalls. All luggage is carried by boat during the hike. Enjoy one full day at the wild beaches.
Schedule :
Day 1
Pick-up at 7:00AM and 4-hour drive to Laranjeiras
2-hour hike to Gaietas Beach, stopping for snacks and crossing Sono, Antigos
and Antiguinhos.
Swimming at the beaches on the way.
Dinner at Gaietas Beach
Accommodation at Gaietas Beach(cottages).
Day 2
Galhetas waterfall after breakfast
6-hour hike crossing 2 beaches and the Cairuçú Peak at 550 meters.
Swim at Martins de Sá and Cairuçú beaches on the way.
1-hour hike to Pouso da Cajaiba Beach
Dinner and accommodation at Cajaiba.
Day 3
After breakfast, 1-hour hike to the village of Praia Grande
Swim at Praia Grande da Cajaiba
2-hour boat trip to Paraty Beach.
Lunch and historic sightseeing in Paraty
4-hour drive to Rio, arriving around 10 PM
Recommendation
Bring light clothes, raincoat, hat, swimming suit, beach sandals, hiking shoes, sunscreen and R$90.00 (US$30.00)for meals, snacks and drinks.
