Description :
Chapada Diamantina National Park with approximately 152,000 hectare and its gateway, the City of Lençóis, welcome you with natural wonders and nostalgic charm. Chapada Diamantina is perhaps one of the most well known natural monuments among Brazilians. Also called “the Brazilian Grand Canyon,” Chapada Diamantina is a green cannyon and in the US it more closely resembles Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. Yet, it is hard to think of any other place besides Chapada Diamantina where awe-inspiring green mesas and cliffs are right above one of the largest underground cave domes in the world. The mountain scenery contains an extraordinary variety of ecosystems, like Cerrado, tropical forest, wetland and Caatinga. The cities that border the National Park are filled with colonial buildings representing the architecture of the time, a vivid memory of the richness of the diamond rush era in the Nineteenth Century.
