Amazon & Rio Negro Rivers ( 6days/5nights ) - Contact Us*

Day 1 -Monday - Depart from Hotel Tropical pier/docking at 02:30 PM and board the Amazon Cruise. Navigation to the "Meeting of the Waters". Navigation in the Xiborena and Careiro regions to Curari. Canoe trip in smaller creeks to see life on the flooded plains: Jute, market-garden products, rubber trees, as well as flood plain forest and lakes with giant water-lillies (in season). This trip returns after sunset so that one can observe night life including caymans. Ship cruise up the Amazon (the upper part of it called Solimoes by the natives) to Lake Janauaca. Dinner on the way.

Day 02 - Tuesday - Early morning canoe trip for bird-watching. Breakfast. Visit to the inhabitants of the lake who live from manioc plantations, fishing,etc... Walk in the forest with commentaries by the specialist. Lunch. Navigation. Fishing for piranhas . Dinner, night trip to see nocturnal animals. Navigatioon downstream on the Amazon.

Day 03- Wednesday- Early morning birdwatching trip in the Janauaca Ecological Park or nearby waterways. Breakfast. Navigation past Manaus port, with views of the floating docks, market, old custom house and houses on stilts.Navigation upstream the Ariau River with some smaller canoe trips shortly before the
sunset – returning after dark. Observe the nocturnal forest animals and the change in the
forest as night falls. Dinner. Ship cruise up the Acu Creek.

Day 04 -Thursday - Breakfast. Walk in the forest the personal lectures by specialists. Flora observation.
Visit to local riverbank families. Observe the local way of life, preparation of manioc flour, living conditions in the Forest. Lunch. Crusing to the Anavilhanas, the world’s largest fresh water archipelago, more then 1000 miles from the ocean. Visit the village of Novo Airao, with their handcraft boat yards, sawmills, local market and other village activities. Dinner. Followed by nightly trips to observe caymans reptiles, sloth, snakes, frogs and other animals (various according to the season).

Day 05–Friday - Cruise to Praia Grande and other white sand beaches. Swimming allowed if conditions
permit. Separate canoe trip to Lake Acajatuba to explore the local flora (original rubber trees,
Brazil-nut trees, palm tree of various types). Piranha fishing. Lunch. Interesting stop at the
Town of Piracatuba to watch this last century rubber-boom old town with their buildings now
overgrown by strangler ficcus trees. Dinner. Navigation.

Day 06 –Saturday - You are at Lake January. Canoe trip at sunrise for bird watching. Breakfast. Another
trip to watch the “Meeting of the Waters” from a different perspective. Return down-river back
to the Manaus Tropical Hotel. Observe the views of the Manaus waterfront. Docking at 11:30am.

Notes:
The boat offers a large air conditioned lecture room,a bar with plenty of comfortable seating, gift shop, as well as a large covered area for outdoor sightseeing and a spaciuos observation and sun deck. Two whirlpools and shower facilities are a must to coll you down in the tropical climate.
